Chapter Two: "A Traitor Among the Ronins?"

Ryo and Mia awoke to the familiar buzz of an alarm clock. Mia didn't have to teach that day, but she still got up at 6:30 to wake little Cye and get some breakfast in him. Ryo headed for the kitchen to get some breakfast for himself and then fix it for Mia and Cye. Mia headed for the shower. By the time Mia emerged from the shower in a bathrobe and walked down to the kitchen, Ryo had already eaten and given the four-year-old Cye his breakfast. Ryo walked out of the kitchen, kissing Mia on her right cheek as he passed her. He took a shower and dressed into his favorite red sweater and jogging pants, then sat in a chair in the living room. As he watched the TV, Mia and Cye walked into the living room and sat down on a sofa. Mia looked provocatively at Ryo, who reacted by shaking his head, signaling, "No. I have a bad feeling about today."

By that time, it was already 7:30. Mia walked over to Ryo and kissed him. "Ryo," she said, "I'm gonna go get dressed. Thanks for fixing breakfast for me." Ryo nodded and she left. He then went to the bathroom and took his shower, then went downstairs.

Just as Ryo came back down the stairs to the living room, the phone rang. Mia beat Ryo to the phone and answered it. Shortly thereafter, she handed it to Ryo, saying, "Ryo, it's for you."

Ryo grabbed the receiver and said, "Hello?"

The voice on the other end was Sage's. "Hey, Ryo, it's Sage. We got big problems down here in Toyama--right where we all met up for the first time."

"I'll be there as soon as I can, Sage. Thanks. Bye."

Ryo hung up the phone and raced to his and Mia's bedroom. Five minutes later, he emerged dressed in black jeans and a red shirt, covered by a black leather jacket. In his right hand he clenched his kanji orb; in his left hand he held a ring of keys. "Hey, Mia, I gotta run! There's trouble in Toyama! I'll see you when I get back! Bye!" Ryo screamed as he left through the back door of the house. A few seconds later, he was on his motorcycle and heading for Toyama.

Ryo stopped and jumped off his cycle. He transformed into his subarmor and ran toward the other Ronins. When he realized what was going on, he called for his Armor, then joined the others. The five Ronins stared down the five Sailor Scouts. Kala hid in false fear behind the Ronins.

Kala spoke up in her forced fear, "Help me, please! The women just started attacking me out of the blue!"

Sailor Mercury retorted, "That's a lie! You attacked us first, Kala!"

"No, you lie!" cried Kento as he prepared to attack.

Before he could do anything, Sailor Jupiter jumped in front of Mercury and attacked. "Jupiter Thunderclap Zap!" The attack threw kento back into a building. He quickly stood up and readied himself.

"Iron Rock Crusher!"

Both women flew back, but Sailor Mercury took more of the assault for some reason. Tuxedo Mask drew a rose and threw it at Kento, but Ryo blocked it with his sword. Ryo took a shot at Sailor Moon.

"Flare Up Now!"

However, Serena returned the attack. "Moon Scepter Activation!" Both attacks collided and neutralized each other. The other Ronins and Sailors stood in silence the whole time. Cye, however, saw something suspicious. Jupiter had talked to Mercury for a few seconds and left her to rejoin the fight. Cye then knew something didn't add up about Kala's story.

Cye shed his Armor and his subarmor, then ran for a building. Rowen saw this and started yelling at him, "What the hell are you doing, Cye?!?"

"Trust me, Rowen! I understand this all clearly now! Trust me!"

Taking the hint, Rowen called out to the idle warriors, "Come on, guys! It's time to start a fight! Arrow Shock Wave!"

Raye countered his attack. "Mars Celestial Fire Surround!" In response to the remaining nine fire rings approaching, Rowen drew five arrows and released them all at once. He repeated the process using just four arrows. All the rings neutralized the arrows.

Cye was busy working his way through the building. He finally found the rear exit and made his way to Amy in such a way that no one would see him. He gently picked Amy up and moved her to behind the building he came out of. He waited for her to wake up and introduced himself as soon as she was fully awake.

"Hi. I'm Cye," he said and saw her fear. "Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you."

A weak and frightened voice replied, "I'm Amy. Pleased to meet you, Cye."

"Do you have any idea what's going on here?"

"Not really. We were fighting Kala in our dimension, then we ended up here."

Cye moved Amy slightly to make her more comfortable and said, "Just as I thought. You didn't start this fight."

"No, we didn't. I'm sorry for this misunderstanding."

"That's okay. I understand."

Amy tried to move, but she couldn't. Cye said, "Amy, please don't try t move. Kento hurt you pretty bad."

Amy tried to hide the sarcasm, but couldn't. "Tell me something I didn't already know."

Cye drew his kanji ball and placed it in Amy's right hand. Her Sailor outfit disappeared and she lay in Sai's arms in her normal street clothes. The kanji ball disappeared into her hand, leaving her in Sai's subarmor. "Cye, what's going on?" she asked as the subarmor started glowing.

"My powers will heal you. Don't try to fight it. Just relax." Cye then leaned in to kiss her, which scared her for a moment, but relaxed her in just a few seconds. This allowed Sai's Armor to start healing her. A few moments later, the kanji ball reappeared in Sai's right hand. Cye drew it back into himself, regaining his subarmor. Both he and Amy stood up and called for their powers.

"Mercury Star Power!"

"Armor of Torrent! Tao chi!"

After both had finished transforming, they walked out from behind the building. Cye the proposed, "Amy we've got to stop them from fighting."

"I know that," Amy said, "But how do we get them to stop?"

"Good question. Maybe--"

"Cye, look out!"

A bolt of energy flew at Cye and Amy, from Kala's hand. Amy shoved Cye out of the way, then jumped back herself. The blast missed both of them. Kala shot another blast at Amy, who tried to counter.

"Shine Aqua Illusion!"

Cye saw this and decided to try to help Amy. He drew his spear and attacked. "Super Wave Smasher!"

The two blasts merged perfectly to form a larger, more powerful one. The attack was just strong enough to neutralize Kala's. Becoming infuriated with Cye, Kala tried to rush him, but Amy was too quick. She slid in front of Kala, tripping her. Cye moved his spear in line with Kala's throat and engaged the man catcher. He said, "Kala, you have one chance to get out of here alive. If you want to live, you'll leave now, before I use this spear to behead you."

Kala then disappeared, saying, "You'll never win, Ronin!"

Amy asked, "Why were you so violent?"

"I'm not sure. It just felt right."

"Do you always think with your heart?"

"Not usually. Anyway, let's go try to stop these people before they kill each other."

"Okay."

By this time, Anubis had arrived, and he was fighting Tuxedo Mask fiercely. Tuxedo Mask was losing ground quickly and was retreating, so Cye put that battle on the top of his priority list. Anubis jumped into the air, ready to throw his kusari gama's weighted end at the ground.

"Quake With-- "

"No! Anubis, don't! Super Wave Smasher!"

"--Fear!"

Sai's attack threw back Anubis and his kusari gama, which exploded into a flurry of chains that ensnared its master. Anubis hit the ground hard on lis left side, moaning in pain. Cye checked to see if Anubis was okay, then headed to stop Kento.

Tuxedo Mask threw a rose at Ryo, who was still fighting Serena. Ryo jumped to attack Sailor Moon, thereby avoiding the rose. He put his swords hilt to hilt and flew farther up into the air. "Flare Up Now!"

Serena again countered. "Moon Scepter Activation!"

Tuxedo Mask then landed at Serena's side and held his cape up with his right arm, then forced it down. A flood of roses headed at Ryo, who again cried out, "Flare Up Now!" All three attacks exploded, throwing Ryo back and down into the side of a building and throwing Serena and Darrian back into another building.

Kento prepared to attack. He swung his staff above his head and called out, "Iron--"

Cye cried out, "No! KENTO! DON'T!!! Super Wave Smasher!"

"--Rock Crusher!"

Before Kento could direct the attack at Lita, Sai's attack hit him in the side, throwing him down the street and causing his attack to be directed away from the fighters and safely down the middle of the street. Cye ran to check on Kento, who said, "Cye, how could you?" as he struggled in pain.

"I'll explain later. I have to stop the others!" He ran toward Rowen and Raye, who were still using their projectile attacks on each other.

As Rowen loaded an arrow into his bow, Kento said to himself, "Damn it, Cye! I never expected you to be a traitor."

Raye called out for her power. "Mars Celestial Fire Surround!"

Cye drew his spear again. "Super Wave Smasher!" Sai's attack blew Raye's off to the side.

"Arrow Shock Wave!" cried Rowen as he let the arrow fly.

"Super Wave Smasher!" Cye screamed as he blasted Rowen's attack out of the way, too. Cye ran into the line of fire and said to Rowen, "Rowen, they're not our enemies. The woman you were protecting is. Trust me! Come on! Stop fighting and get Anubis out of his chain trap."

"Alright," said Rowen grudgingly toward Raye. He ran for Anubis, who still lay in his own attack's trap.

"It's about time one of them figured it out! Why would WE start a fight for no reason?!?" Raye thought to herself as she ran to check on Darrian and Serena.

Cye ran into the line of fire between Sage and Mina just in time to use his spear to block a swipe form Sage's nodatchi. Sage screamed, "Cye, what the HELL ARE YOU DOING!?!?!??"

"Stopping you from making a huge mistake. Mina isn't our enemy. Neither are her friends. The woman you were protecting is. Go get Kento and check on him. I had to blast him. I'll go get Ryo. When everyone's together, we'll go to Mia's and I'll explain everything."

Cye left to get Ryo. Amy had followed behind Cye, gathering up the Sailor Scouts as he stopped the Ronins. All of the Scouts were gathered under the large screen Mia and Yuli had been briefly trapped in almost six years earlier. The Ronins were gathered across the street and had powered down to their subarmors. The Scouts and Tuxedo Mask were now in their normal street clothes. Amy and Cye both proposed that all of them should go to Mia and Ryo's place for some rest and a chance to exchange stories. The others hesitantly agreed, the Ronins pointing out that it'd be a little tough to explain to little Cye (Ryo and Mia's son) just what was going on.

Author's Notes

A lot of fighting in this cahpter, non? Anyway, I hope the added detail and more action than I had originally intended makes up for the fact that I was a day late in putting this chapter out. I usually keep promises like this, so I apologize for going back on my word.

Anyway, I hope you don't want to kill me for this chapter's theme, Dragon Girl. I know you love Cye, so I hope you aren't angry that I turned him into a traitor! Besides, it really adds a depth to the plot and adds the foreshadowing for one of the lemons that I'm writing to go along with the enitre fic, and, it's only temporary, turst me! (No, the lemons won't be integral to the plot, but reading them will make the absolute final chapter to this fic easier to understand unless I integrate the consequences of them into the second-to-the-last chapter.)

Also, I must thank Aleksa and some friends of mine at my school for giving me some of the ideas that are in this chapter and the next three or four.
