Chapter Nine: "The Dates"

Everyone sat in the dining room of Mia's and Ryo's house. An incessant murmur of everyone's talking annoyed Mia and Ryo to the point that Ryo couldn't take it anymore.

"SHUT UP! EVERYONE, SHUT UP NOW!"

Everyone except Serena complied quickly. Darrian silenced her simply by placing his hand over her mouth.

"Now that everyone's finally calmed down," Mia began, "I'd like to know what happened while you were in the other dimension."

"Well, we had a battle with Kala," Ryo began, but was cut off.

"And then we all went out on dates last night!" Kento finished.

"Not ALL of us, though. I stayed at Darrian and Serena's house with them."

"So, who went out with who?" questioned Mia.

"Well, Sai took me out again," Amy replied meekly but quickly.Cye

"For the third time," Ryo added with a wink.

"Raye and I had a night out on the town," Rowen said.

"Yeah, the best date I've ever had. And you are an incredible dancer, Ro."

"NANI?!?" was all that could be heard for the next ten seconds. Ryo, Cye, Kento, Sage, Anubis, Kayura, and Mia all looked at Raye with jaws laying on the floor.

Rowen smiled nervously. "I, uh, slow danced with her last night. It was only one dance."

"Yeah, but the most incredible slow dance I've ever had. That was the best night of my life." Raye's look turned toward Ryo and Sage. "What? Didn't you guys know how great a dancer he is?"

Ryo, still in shock, replied, "R-R-R-R-R-Raye, u-uh, Rowen has never danced before, at least not as long as we've known him."

"No, he hasn't," Sage confirmed.

"Rowen! You never danced on our date!" Mia blurted out before she realized what she said.

"NANI?!!? YOU DATED MIA?" Ryo demanded of Rowen.

"Yes, once. Remember when Sage, Kento, and Cye were being held captive in the Dynasty? The first night after we came back from our pilgrimages, Mia and I went out for dinner. We never danced, and the most that happened was that I gave her a light kiss on the cheek."

Ryo seemed to calm down slightly. "Why didn't you tell me this?" His eyes locked onto Mia's and demanded the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth instantaneously.

"I thought it'd just hurt you, so he and I agreed that it would be kept a secret. Ryo, I'm sorry."

Ryo walked quietly out of the room. The next noise to be heard was the slamming of the front door.

"Shouldn't someone go after him?"

"No, Serena," Mia answered, "He'll be fine. He just needs to vent a little. Once he visits his volcano, he'll be fine."

"Volcano?"

Rowen interrupted Mia as she tried to answer. "Yeah, each of us has a particular place where our Armors are the strongest. For Ryo, it is a certain volcano. For Sage, it's a cave that houses immense darkness. Cye's place is the twin torrents in the city. Kento's is in a huge, open field. Mine is in the sky, particularly in outer space. If I can get into the stratosphere or above, my Armor gains great strength. Ryo's is the same when he steps into the volcano's magma. He becomes incredibly strong. I just hope and pray that he's not wearing Inferno when he stands in that volcano. He might not be able to handle THAT kind of power."

"Yes," Mia interjected, "but the volcano gives Ryo an odd sense of peace. When he focuses all his powers of Wildfire into one concentrated blast, it has a cleansing effect on him, washing away all of his stress and anger, and a lot of times, his pain, too."

Serena looked at them both with a slight glint of understanding, then said, "Oh, I see."

"On to other matters. Sage took Mina out, and Kento escorted Lita for the evening. Or was that the other way around, Lita?"

"The other way around, Ro. I was the one who escorted Kento. Do you have any idea how hard it is to have a date with him?"

"HEY!" Kento retorted angrily.

"Don't worry, Ken. I didn't mean it seriously. I enjoyed our date last night, and I can't wait for our next."

"Heh. How did you like our date, Mina?"

"I told you last night that I loved it. Especially after dinner." Mina looked seductively at Sage, then winked.

"Mina! You didn't!" Serena scolded her.

"Cool your jets, Serena. We slept in the same bed, but we didn't have intimate contact," Sage stated cooly.

"ARMOR OF WILDFIRE! TAO JIN!"

Sakura blossoms showered around Ryo as silk draped itself over him, forming the gauntlets, then the leg pieces. The breastplate and skirt formed next, closely followed by the elg pieces. A mass of energy resting in Ryo's left hand formed his helmet. He turned the helmet around, then pulled it down onto his head. His swords and their scabbards formed as soon as his helmet was in place. The face shield opened, and he drew the swords.

He placed the swords hilt-to-hilt, and his face shield closed. Ryo jumped up from the top of the volcano, and within seconds landed on the floor of the volcano, holding the swords in his right hand, one sword resting against his back, the other pointing out into nowhere. He again jumped, focusing all his power into one shot. "FLARE UP NOW!"

The ensuing energy caused a massive eruption in the volcano, which pushed Ryo up to thirty feet above its crest. He jumped off the lava wave, landing on the road he drove up on with his motorcycle. "Power down!" were Ryo's only words as he walked toward his motorcycle. His Armor disappeared, then his subarmor followed suit. He dropped his kanji orb into the pocket in his black leather jacket as he mounted the motorcycle. He sped away seconds later.

A woman walked from the shadows at the base of the volcano, dressed in a tight, red leather miniskirt, and a tight, black leather top. She stepped just far enough out that an observant person could easily recognize her as Kayla, Kala's daughter.

"So," she stated, "this is the power possessed by a bearer of Hariel's legendary Armor. This is why Mother was defeated so easily. She simply does not have the strength to deal with the Armor of Inferno without her Dark Moon Crystal. I have to locate the Dark Rainbow Crystals if we're to have any chance of winning."

"Planning again, are we, Kayla?"

"Master! I'm sorry, I should have talked to you first and asked your permission--"

"Nonsense. I have been monitoring your progress. You are exactly right in your assumption that your mother needs more power. Locate the Dark Rainbow Crystals, and I will send some troops to retrieve them while your mother recovers in the healing chamber."

"Yes, master."

More of the Author's Psychotic Rants

Konnichi wa, minna! I didn't expect to get this chapter out so soon, nor did I expect the Rowen-Mia date in the past, much less the Kayla scene in the end. Still, I think it makes the chapter better in the end. So, minna, what do you think?

Anyway, the Dark Rainbow Crystals are a part of my original plan. They will begin a twist of fate that will negatively effect the end of this story. However, all this was preplanned, so it won't get TOO far out of hand. Expect a lot of interdimensional travel from now on, as well as dark clones of the Ronins, Anubis, and Kayura. Also expect the Dark Sailor Scouts to return. Oh, yeah, Raye is going to discover a greater power within her, and there will be two new entrants into the story, the Green Ranger (the original Green Ranger from Power Rangers) and a character based on Aleksa (although I have yet to decide on a name for her and a definite role for her).

Enough of my giving away the plot of future chapters! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this.
